Server

The vocera application server currently at version 5.3.2 , is the software heart of the Vocera system. The server is in control of all call setup and management throughout the Vocera system. The User profile database, administration console and Speech recognition engine are all parts of this complete system. The server software runs on a Windows 2016 server platform. The application server can be configured in a cluster configuration for reduced downtime from hardware failure or even through windows upgrades. Using a Vocera owned cluster technology, the need for Microsoft clustering and its expense and difficulity in setup are put aside. To set up a cluster you add a second server, add the TCP/IP addresses for each server in the cluster and then push a button to start the cluster. With additional servers, updates are done first to the “Standby” server then the system is failed over to the standby server and the former active server gets an upgrade and it becomes the standby server.
